Back from New England

We got back from a week in New England today, had a great time and managed to travel to most of the major places. We stayed about 30 miles outside of Boston so that we could easily travel round the area and I think we can safely say we did that!

We travelled the Mohawk Trail which was very scenic. We visited Mt Greystone and walked up the tower on top of the mountain to see some great views. Another day we went down to Newport in Rhode Island which is a lovely place, but unfortunately it started to rain heavily so we decided to travel on to Gillette Castle in Connecticut where it wasn’t raining. This castle is amazing and definitely worth traveling to.
Gillette Castle, Connecticut

Gillette Castle We also visited Cape Cod, Green Mountains in Vermont, White Mountains in New Hampshire and Portland in Maine. In fact we managed to visit most places except Boston. We just didn’t have the time and as we prefer the natural sights to cities we decided that we would forsake Boston for the other places.
Plymouth, Mass
Our theory is, that when we live in Canada, it will easy enough for us to visit New England – perhaps when the fall foliage is in progress so the fact that we still have other places to visit is not a problem. If, heaven forbid we don’t get to live in Canada, we can always take another trip here.

Nubble Lighthouse, Cape NeddickAll in all we had a good, if busy week, the weather was excellent except for the one morning in Newport. Can definitely recommend a visit here.
