Giving away our belongings

Well Christmas is over with and we are now thinking about Canada again, not that we ever seem not to be!

As we have now had our medicals done we hope to be getting our PPR soon. We have now had to seriously look at everything that needs to be done in order for us to be able to move.

We have looked at all our stuff and tried to decide what we will take and what can be thrown away or sold. Chris’s daughter came over during Christmas and left with our stereo and Playstation – not bad as she had pressies too, she is 19 by the way!

We have looked at rental accommodations near where we want to move to, as well as many other things. Then something strange happened – we found ourselves booking a trip to Canada!

So, now we have our flights booked, accommodation and car hire booked for a trip in April. The theory is that we will be visiting and looking at properties and will actually see one we like and be able to buy. This will mean that we can return to the UK knowing that we have a house and once all the legalities are sorted we can land for good. Hopefully at this point in time we will also have sold our house.

If by some strange stroke of luck we have already sold our house by the time the trip is due, then we will just go for good and not bother using the return part of the flight.

I will just have to time giving in my notice to fit in with everything else that will be going on.

We are very excited now that we have the promise of at least a trip in the near future, if not a permanent move.

BTW: We are going back to Ontario, having ruled our Alberta after careful consideration.

Work is becoming a drag

Well Christmas is coming and we doubt that we will head anything from CHC now until well after the new year.

We had to go to the hospital in the week to have hubby’s arm checked. We were hoping that they would take the cast off, but unfortunately the doctor didn’t agree and wanted to keep it on another week. So that means that we have to go back next week, but they will remove the cast this time, so just in time for Christmas.

I am really busy at work at the moment and when I am sorting something out that will not come into effect for several months I keep thinking – do I care? Work is becoming a real effort. I just want to get to Canada and forget all about it. I suppose I would be thinking different if they had said they would keep me on when we move, but as they won’t then I am really having problems getting enthusiastic about it. I suppose everyone feels this way when they get close to moving.

We have just finished (or rather hubby has) decorating the house. Yes, he has managed to do this with his arm in plaster. This means that we can put it on the market after Christmas and hope that we can sell it and it ties in well with the visa etc.

I just hope we don’t get into the situation of getting the visa but unable to sell the house.
