No water in the house
Today we started out with the intention of getting the water supply sorted out at our new house.
Firstly we went over to Future Shop to get a pay as you go mobile (sorry cell). Having got this we went back to the hotel to activate it and charge it a little before setting off to the house. At least now we are contactable and we can contact others.
In the meantime we called our realtor to say that we still could not get the water working at the house. They contacted the vendor’s realtor who then contacted me and promised to find out what was wrong and call us back.
She phoned a while later to say that the vendors had left the water running and all was ok when they left the property on Wednesday. Well it wasn’t all right when we left last night I said.
She gave us some more instructions as to what to do. They were the same as they were yesterday, but we promised to try them out and get back to her. I’m sure they were thinking, “Stupid Brits don’t know anything”.
Anyway we went over to the house and tried out the suggestions, but still we had nothing. No water, no sounds of water, no nothing.
We again phoned the vendors realtor who said her and her husband (who knew about these things) would come out and fix the problem. He was apparently 99% sure he knew what the problem was. Great, we thought, we might finally get some water.
Half hour later they turned up and we could tell straight away that they thought we were completely stupid. But……after half an hour of them fiddling with the system, nothing, nada, zilch.
They then had to confess that there was indeed a problem and it wasn’t just us stupid Brits who knew nothing. This pleased us in one way, but still left us without water.
We called the pump guy who had done the pump test when we first made an offer on the place, but his answer phone was on so we could only leave a message. Trouble was it was now late on Saturday afternoon, so we weren’t hopeful he would call back.
We left the house and went to Home Depot to get some DIY stuff. We want to decorate the upstairs, particularly the living and dinging area and the master bedroom before the furniture arrives next week. We ended up spending nearly $700 dollars.
We then had dinner at Kelsey’s and then went back to the house to drop off all the stuff we had bought. We also did a bit of weeding in the front garden as it was left a bit of a mess by the previous owners. It was hard work as even at 8pm it was nearly 90 degrees!
After this we went back to the hotel and had a well earned shower and have now collapsed for the night. No hope of getting water before Monday now, so thank goodness we had booked the hotel for a week or two.
