Hawks and squirrels don’t mix
Yesterday we spotted a huge hawk in the garden. It sent the squirrels and other birds into a frenzy. We managed to get a picture although it is not very clear as the zoom was at full stretch and it was snowing. He is a Northern Goshawk apparently.
This morning I managed to get a picture of one of our squirrels in an unlikely situation. We have noticed that since we have had a lot of snow around the squirrels have been burrowing under the snow to get from tree to tree rather that trying to scamper over the top. We kept seeing squirrels diving under the snow then reappearing a few feet further along and then diving down again. Today I managed to get a quick pic as one popped his head out to see how far he was from the tree.
Is he cute or what?
