Brand new birds in the garden
Well our new feeders seem to be working as we have had three new bird species in the garden this week. Unfortunately we have only managed to get photos of one so far, but we are ever patient.
The other day Chris spotted a Oreole which we had never seen before. We went straight out and bought a feeder for it as they feed off nectar. So that is now in place in the garden and we are hoping that they come back soon.
On the same day we spotted a flycatcher sitting on the deck railings. Again we didn’t get the chance to take a photo, but it was a new one to us.
Today we spotted two birds on the feeder which were red in colour. Fortunately they stayed for about half an hour so we could get pics of them and then could identify them. They are purple finches.
Here is a photo of a common bird – grackle, but it shows their lovely plumage off.
Another regular visitor is the grosbeak and here is the female.
This final pic of the day goes to a heavily pregnant squirrel. Although it is not easy to tell from this pic she is very rotund and has heavy teats.
