Stormy skies

Since living in Ontario I can honestly say I have experienced more snow than every other year of my life put together and now I can add thunder storms to that record.

This year we have had lots of thunderstorms, some really bad. This summer has apparently been the wettest since 1980 and hardly a day has gone by when we haven’t had some rain. This has resulted in lots of storms, many causing power, satellite TV and internet outages.

Yesterday we popped into Belleville and the skies were cloudy but blue and the sun was shining. A hour later on our way home again the skies looked like this!

You can actually see it raining here.

Some of the storms are amazing and we can often be found staring out the windows at night watching the lightening strikes and hearing the thunder roar. Most times it is much more interesting than the TV (if it’s working).

The squirrels don’t seem to mind the weather and they can be seen outside raiding the bird feeders regrdless of the weather. Here are a few pics of our locals.

This is Boris – he has a squarer face and larger eyes than many other squirrels.

This one of the females – looking rather pregnant or just having had young.

And one of them sharing – a very rare thing I can asure you.
