As Friday is the first official day of spring it is no surprise that we are starting to see spring appear in the garden. This is in the form of the animals and birds.
We have seen a couple of chipmunks pop up and take a look outside but not for any length of time. We also have far less snowbirds about (dark eyed junkos) as apparently these migrate up north in the summer. This last week has seen a influx of male blackbirds, no females yet and lots of grackles. Here are some pics I took yesterday.

We also have our returning squatters – the killdeer. Every summer we have been here two killdeer have arrived in late March and camp out on our front garden and raise their young. They arrived on Friday 13th March which is a couple of weeks earlier than last year, but the weather is better this year, so this is probably why.
Most of our snow has now gone – for good we hope! The temps are warming up with the last few days just peeking into double digits. The temps are going down again over the next few days but still going to be around 7C, so not too bad.
OH just popped out to our mail box to collect the mail. He came back in saying “Why is Citizenship & Immigration writing to me?”
OMG, perhaps they want to send us back to the UK – but it was only addressed to him, so I replied in a loving wifely way “Well if they are sending you back, you are on your own.” I’m known for my compassionate nature! “Perhaps they are letting us know that we will soon be able to apply for citizenship” I offered
Anyway, we stared at the envelope, neither of us daring to open it. Eventually OH built up the courage and read the contents – a survey! A SURVEY – Don’t the realize that by now both of us felt sick with worry and they send us a bloody SURVEY!!!!!!
Apparently they are conducting a survey of people who emigrated using the skilled worker program so that they can “improve future programs.” It states that although the survey is confidential it will be cross-referenced to info we previously submitted. Seems like they are checking up on people – or am I being paranoid?
Anyway the survey is voluntary, so I think we will give it a miss.
Heart rate is now returning to normal and life goes on….
