Groundhog reappears

Every year we have seen a groundhog in our garden, but this year so far no sign —– until today. Hubby just happened to look out the garden at the right time and spotted one under the tree. We are not convinced it is the same one from before as he seems smaller, but who knows?

Here he is:

After walking around the back garden he wandered round the front then we lost track of him. I hope he comes back as I just love him. I know they do a lot of damage, in fact he pretty much uprooted one of our decks by tunneling under so that the deck legs no longer met the ground, but he is cute!

Deer for the second day running

Yesterday I mentioned that we had a young stag in the garden which is unusual in the summer months. Well last night we had another deer in the garden, this time a female. How odd that we don’t see any for a couple of months and suddenly we get two, two days running.

We are also on the look out for Blanding’s turtle which we often get crossing the garden in the summer. None spotted yet, but hopefully they will be along soon.

Really hot today, 31C but with the humidex it is nearer 37C.
