Killdeer are back again
Since last writing, yes I know it was a while ago, we have not seen our squirrel Fang. He was a regular visitor for several days, but he was clearly having a lot of difficulty eating with his very long teeth. Unfortunately it seems that he is no more. I guess nature has its own way of dealing with these things.
On a brighter note we had the killdeer back in the garden yesterday. We have not seen them since they lost their babies earlier in the year. We had hoped they would have another brood, but that did not happen and they disappeared. Yesterday the pair were back however one of them only had one leg. Not sure if it was the male or female as they look alike, but he/she seemed to be hopping around quite happily. Hopefully they will make it and we will see them back again next spring to have more babies.
The weather during September has been fantastic. Mid twenties, so perfect temps, no smog, very little humidity – just perfect. September is definitely turning out to be the best month of the year so far. The evenings and mornings are cooler, but I can put up with this type of weather all the time.
