On a lighter note…
After my last post, I felt I needed to talk about something a little lighter, so over to the bids and bees.
This last couple of weeks we have seen the return of many of our summer birds such as robins, purple finches and the killdeer. We also have a pairs of the following: cardinals, flickers, flycatchers and towhees. We are still waiting for some of the other birds such as thrashers and grosbeaks, but it is certainly feeling more like summer now.
The weather is pretty good too, warm and not too much rain although apparently the latter is on the way next week. We have had several of the grackles fighting in the garden. They are really vicious and are at it for ages, tumbling and scrapping between them.
We also have lots more chipmunks about and the rabbits are coming out more and more in the day, probably because there is plenty of grass and weeds about for them to chew on. I just wish they would eat the weeds growing on the driveway first!
