Home cinema installed at last
We have debated forever it seems to build a home cinema in our house. Chris has been using our photography studio as a make-shift home cinema (mainly for sports) using the large white background we have, but the room is so big it never felt cozy and fun. Finally we decided to relocate the home cinema to an area of the basement I have been using as a library. I love books and have a very large bookcase full of them. Well we managed to take all the books off the case and move it to another room then replace the books. I cannot believe how many books I have, especially considering the majority have been purchased since we moved here. I should get rid of some of them, perhaps a yard sale is in order!
Anyway, with the bookcase moved it was surprising how big the room looked, so we moved a two seater recliner from upstairs to the new room – no mean feat I can tell you – it weighed a ton. Then we took the reclining chair upstairs – another struggle – I am so weak and feeble!
We decided to buy a 100″ screen rather than make do with a painted wall or using a photography background. We found one at a very reasonable cost and ordered it online and it was delivered two days later – excellent service. Almost before it had been delivered Chris was installing it. With a few tweaks here and there it fitted perfectly. Next the projector we already had was installed along with the surround sound system. We moved the blue ray player from upstairs to downstairs and the DVD player visa versa.
We now have a dedicated home cinema room which is perfect in every way and very cozy and comfortable. Best of all it cost us almost nothing as we simply used things we already had, the only expense was the screen. Chris worked really hard putting it all together, so big thanks to him from me.

Last night we watched Avatar – we are probably some of the last people to have watched it. But I am glad we waited until we had the big screen and viewed it as it was made to be viewed – well as close as possible anyway. I can see us spending a lot of time in this room – we should have done this years ago.
