Praying Mantis on deck

Just looked out the patio doors this morning and saw this praying mantis on the deck. I love these, they are so amazing. Quite creepy looking but fantastic all the same.

Chris got his camera too and when the mantis saw its reflection in the screen it attacked it.

Fascinating creature.

Stick insect

For the second time only we spotted a stick insect outside. He started off on the pane of glass on the patio doors, then moved – very fast across the deck to the garden. We couldn’t believe how fast he could run.

The world is full of very strange creatures and I think this definitely falls into this category.
