Bugs have a lot to answer for

Normally I can get away with bug bites. When all around me are being bitten, I can usually stay pretty much bite free – until last Sunday that is.

On Sunday we went to visit a property we had seen that looked really nice and we felt we had to take a look. Just in case it was our dream home – well you never know! The grounds were fantastic with stunning trees and manicured gardens with lots of plants. Much of the property was wooded and we wandered around and stood chatting to the owner and our realtor for quite a while outside.

It wasn’t until I woke up the following day that I realized I had been bitten – big time. My feet had lots of bites and I was starting to get some hives develop. Also my eye was a bit gritty. Hubby also had some bites – nothing unusual for him, but very unusual for me.

Later in the day my eye really started to get red and sore and started weeping. I wear contact lenses and had to remove the one eye because it was getting so bad. Along with my feet itching like crazy I was feeling really crappy.

By evening I could barely see out of my eye and it was so sensitive to light I had to wear sunglasses in the house and put no lights on in the evening.

When I woke up the following morning my eye was caked in horrid stuff and I had to soak it before I could open it. It was still very red and swollen and very sore. I put some drop in that we had and hoped for the best. Luckily as the day wore on my eye got a little better and I was able to replace my contact lens so I could at least see. By evening I could see and it wasn’t too bad, just still a bit sensitive to light.

Today it is better still with much of the redness gone and it doesn’t feel so gritty. Still a bit light sensitive, but not nearly as bad as before. My feet are still sending my crazy with itching though – as are hubby’s.

Needless to say we will not be putting in a offer on the property as we are both clearly allergic to it!!!!

Disastrous house visit

Today we went to see the two houses that our realtor had told us about. We had an appointment to meet the realtor at 12.30 at the first house. Because this area is quite a way from us (170 km) we had to travel for about 1.5 hours to get there. We pulled up into the drive way and from the little bit of the property we could see it looked really nice.

Well, we sat there and sat there and no realtor. Then a woman came out of the house dressed in her nightclothes and said that she had not made an appointment with her realtor and that her and her husband worked nights and they were still in bed. She told us in no uncertain terms we were not welcome, so we drove off.

I phoned our realtor but couldn’t get an answer so left a message saying we had been sent away from the house and we would make our way to the second.

When we got to the second there was no sign of the realtor. We drove around and decided we were not interested in this one anyway, so decided we had had enough and would go home. On the way back down the main road we passed the realtor. We both stopped and she came over to say there had been a mix up and the seller’s realtor had not booked the appointment properly. We were really annoyed as we had wasted the day going there, driven 350 km round trip and spent money on gas (petrol).

Apparently there is an open house there this weekend, but we now have to decide if we want to travel all that way to see this one property. Trouble was it looked ideal from the outside, it’s the right price and the internal pics look nice too. Dilemma!

Is it fate that we couldn’t get in? Is this a way of telling us to stop looking, or is it fate that we really liked the look of it and we should go back for the open house?

I guess I’ll keep you posted when we decide.
