It was a deer. This is slightly unusual as we don’t get many deer around during the summer and even less during daylight. It turned out to be a young stag which is more unusual still. We have only ever had one stag in the garden, usually we get does with young. This one is obviously very young and just starting to get his antlers.

Lets hope we see him again.

It has been very hot this week with temps in the high 20′sC. Today is going to be 28C with humidex putting it up to the low 30′s – toasty! Hopefully we can get some more geocaching done soon. We haven’t been able to recently because of all the rain.

We have seen many female deer since being here and one comes into the garden most nights. Just the night before we had two does wandering round, but last night a male showed up.

He was quite a bit chunkier than the does with a big thick set neck and of course antlers. I don’t think is a particularly old stag as his antlers were not huge, but then size isn’t everything!

In the pics below you can see the stag and the dark blob on the ground is Ronnie our resident raccoon who stood his ground against the stag.
