Yellow-bellied sapsucker

Last year we had a brown bird which we identified as a juvenile yellow-bellied sapsucker. Yesterday we spotted a bird in the trees which we had not seen before and it tuns out this is the adult yellow-bellied sapsucker. Don’t know if it is the same one we saw last year all grown up or another, but we hope he hangs around as he is very pretty. He is a member of the woodpecker family.

Birds everywhere

Yesterday we had a sudden invasion of grackles. We often have grackles in the garden, but this influx was quite something. Also, they are extremely noisy birds, so the noise level whilst they were around was horrendous. It is not a nice noise either!

We also had another visit from the yellow-bellied sapsucker. This time we managed to get slightly better pics before it flew off.
